Even if You’re Ill, You Can Still Stay Connected

Hospitals in the United States begun setting up Internet systems, complete with shopping channels, to help patients pick up merchandise they will need for their recovery. The idea is that patients and visitors who are busy shopping and browsing the Web will be happier, less tempted to bother nurses, and more likely to arm themselves with health care information that can help smooth the patient’s recovery.

goals

professional goal...
Well, Coming to Grade school was tough (believe you me!) but studying is way much tougher. I didn’t realize that Grad school would demand so much of my time and energy. As the classes’ progresses, I need to find time to research my arguments as well as finish my readings which are piling up as you read these lines.
For the time being, my goal is to find an internship in Washington DC or NY where I get to apply the theories and frameworks that were discussed in class to real life situations. As for the time being my ultimate and must do goal is to update my resume (which I’ve been pending for quite sometime now!) and start applying to the organizations I previously searched for.

personal goal...
It’s been a while where I have last practiced my IT skills. This class is a sweet reminder of what I used to do the past but for some reason I just let it go. My goal for this class, is to use my existing knowledge in a graduate approach framework. My previous practices were in a non formal settings and I want to use this knowledge to where I know I can invest in my management future.

Giving the Outsiders a Say on Movies

Film enthusiasts vote at the box office on which movies succeed or fail. The idea behind a new Web site, Massify.com, is to give them a vote on which films are made in the first place, along with some say in the script and the casting.

Massify members (membership is free and anyone can join) are offered a platform to promote themselves and whatever current projects they are involved in, and are also eligible to vote on other users’ film ideas through online competitions in which members vie for financing and distribution from Massify and its partners.

And after granting money to winners of its online competitions, determined by popular user vote, the investors in Massify will maintain a financial interest in the films that originated there, and help produce and bring them to market.

Massify aims to encourage collaboration, but it is not a philanthropic enterprise. Like most Web sites, Massify wants to attract advertisers even as it faces the challenge of proving itself as a practical place for the film industry and the public to discover new talent. “We’re building an audience before the film is made,” said Kenneth Woo, one of Massify’s two founders.
